Who we are

Remember Rubén is a UK based registered charity that exists to provide support to anyone affected by the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death. The charity was set up in memory of a special baby boy, Rubén, who was stillborn on 17thJanuary 2016. The issue of baby loss has been growing over the years, with an estimated 1 in 4 pregnancies in the UK ending in loss either during pregnancy or birth. The loss of a baby at any stage of pregnancy or infancy is devastating and we are here not only to provide support and comfort to bereaved families, but also to reassure them that, during their most difficult times, they are not alone.

Yanique Illidge: Yanique founded Remember Rubén following the stillbirth of her son Rubén at 5 months. Yanique now acts as Charity Trustee, dealing with the day to day running and administration of the charity.

Losing a baby and everything that comes with it, has been and will probably be the hardest thing that I will ever go through, but as a focus for my grief, I wanted to set something up to not only honour my son but to help other people that have been and will be affected by baby loss

Paul Ortiz Tinitana: As Rubén’s day, Paul knows first hand of the devastating effects of baby loss. Paul acts as Charity Trustee and is largely responsible for managing the charity events.

Jayne Illidge: Jayne experienced baby loss from a different but equally heartbreaking perspective as Rubén’s nanny. Jayne acts as Charity Trustee and is largely responsible for collections and donations.

Baby loss has heartbreaking effects for families and it was difficult to see my own family affected. It was always important for me to be involved in the charity to ensure we keep Rubén’s name alive.

What we do

We focus our work around these ___ main areas:

(INCLUDE GRID WITH: Remembrance, Awareness, Support – Italics – include link to relevant page)

Remembrance:

Whether its our remembrance boxes, created and donated to hospitals across the UK to enable families to create lifelong memories with their babies or our remembrance services throughout the year, we keep remembering your baby at the heart of all we do.

Awareness:

Our fundraisers throughout the year aim at building and sustaining awareness of the growing issue of baby loss.

Support:

Baby loss bereavement can leave bereaved families feeling isolated and lonely – its our mission to reassure them that they are not alone. We operate a support buddy system, where families can connect with someone else in their local area who has suffered the loss of a baby, as well as regular, public support meetings throughout the year for bereaved families.
